Inspired by the courage, generosity, and spirit of Brian “Hart” Martell, our Foundation exists to support our neighbors carrying the weight of cancer.
We provide direct financial assistance to patients and the loved ones walking alongside them, helping ease the everyday burdens of treatment — from travel and lodging to groceries, medications, and essential household needs.
We cannot change the diagnosis.
But we can help ease some of the practical strain so that strength can go where it’s needed most.
Through quiet, local impact, we honor Brian’s life by doing what he did best—showing up for others when they need it most.
Brian “Hart” Martell was one of one.
He was the rarest kind of person. A remarkable husband, father, brother, son, and friend — not because he tried to be, but because it was simply who he was. He gave himself fully to the people in his life. He noticed the details. He invested in relationships. When you were around him, you felt like you were part of something bigger — part of a circle that mattered. He was authentic. Direct. Completely comfortable in his own skin. He had a loud laugh, strong opinions, and a presence that drew people in.
He was deeply engaged in whatever — and whoever — was in front of him. Whether it was celebrating something big, stepping into something hard, or sitting around enjoying a few pints while the night stretched longer than planned, he made ordinary moments feel meaningful. He helped build Druthers Brewing Company with his father and brothers, but to him it was always about connection. About creating places where people gathered, stories were told, and friendships grew stronger over shared drafts and shared time.
When he was diagnosed with leukemia, he faced it the same way he faced everything else — directly. With grit. With humor. With resolve. Even on the hardest days, he remained himself. This Foundation exists because that’s who he was.
Because he would have helped.
Because he would have cared.
Because he would have shown up.
